Operation Hydrant: An ACPO initiative on child abuse investigations relating to powerful people

I have serious concerns about Police integrity and competence when it comes to the matter of investigating alleged child abuse by powerful people.

I've also got a healthy level of suspicion about the instinct of many Police officers to cover for wrongdoing by their colleagues.

So it's with mixed feelings that I've learned about Operation Hydrant, an initiative by the Association of Chief Police officers.

The announcement of 5th August 2014 is here:
Operation Hydrant group to assess scale of historic child abuse cases involving institutions and prominent people

Why mixed feelings?

I have serious doubts about the integrity of a number of ACPO-grade Police officers. Those doubts, I believe to be based on solid evidence.

The membership of the Operation Hydrant group is not, so far as I've been able to find, in the public domain.

If Operation Hydrant is genuinely an initiative to improve the effectiveness of investigation of powerful paedophiles then I very much welcome it.

But centralising aspects of such investigations potentially introduces choke points. And it also makes it easier for those with malevolent motives to keep an eye on any dangerous (to the paedophile) developments.

I've written to Paddy Cooper, the ACPO contact, to ask who is on the Operation Hydrant Group.

More when i know more.

P.S. Who chooses the names of Police Operations? What is the purpose of a Hydrant? To put out a fire.

  1. I've tried to complain about pindown child abuse that I suffered and other abuse of children, time after time to Stafford police but they have treated me like a nuisance and I've tried to complain about the way stafford police have dealt with my coming forward, but all my complaints to other police forces and the so called independent police complaints get referred back to Stafford police, I feel intimidated and bullied by stafford police
